Welcome to the websites of the Stirling Behavioural Science Centre (StirBSC)!
The StirBSC connects researchers with backgrounds in economics, psychology, philosophy from Stirling University and beyond since 2011. We are interested in better understanding behaviour and informing behavioural policies such as nudges, boosts, and behaviourally informed regulation.
Get in touch
We are keen to collaborate with researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the wider world interested in behavioural science. Please get in touch if you are looking for information about our activities, have a suggestion for a project, or wish to join us as a member. Our Centre Director is Prof Leonhard Lades (l.k.lades@stir.ac.uk).
Linking academia and the outside world
We have a strong track record of applying behavioural science to help solve real world problems. Our collaborative partners include the Food Safety Authority, the Scottish Avalanche Information Service, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, Glasgow Film Theatre and NHS Lothian.
Events
We are organising behavioural science events such as seminars, workshops, and conferences. Please have a look at the Events page for more details.
Research
Centre members have published in top journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Human Behavior, Psychological Science and Management Science. A longer list of research output is available at the indicative publications page.
Teaching
We are proud to run the MSc Behavioural Science, which has received 100% student satisfaction in each of the three most recent PTES surveys.
A little history
The StirBSC was founded in 2011 by Prof Liam Delaney and Prof Alex Wood and was subsequently directed by Prof Conny Wollbrant and Prof Dave Comerford.
