Inducing honest responses in discrete choice experiments using the choice matching approach

The choice matching (CM) approach is a relatively new method that is meant to induce honest responses in any type of discrete choice question. A collection of three empirical papers that apply the CM to discrete choice experiments (DCEs) is presented. Two papers investigate whether the CM is able to induce honest responses in DCEs, thus improving the validity and reliability of preferences elicited for both private and public goods. The third paper studies the performance of different variations of the CM, again in terms of validity and reliability of elicited preferences. Economic experiments are used to investigate these issues.
